If you are interested by image recognition, this article should interest you. It will have a big potential in terms of mobile marketing mixed with actual multi-function smartphones. The problem is that several fundamental technologies are necessary for image recognition and those were under-developed or just do not exist.
With the beginning of its new Goggles application by visual search, several of these barriers fell. The idea of Goggles Google is that a user take a photograph of an object (could be a book, a building, a text or any object) and the application will answers search results related to this object. Take a photograph of a bookpage, for example, and Goggles will return you reviews, contents, links to buy this book and any other information into the Google index relevant with your request.
Several start-ups are already proposed this type of concept, but, here, the difference is that Google has got an enormous index and that will be the fundamental point to start successfully the image recognition system.

While the other mobile service providers are moving ahead with mobile advertising, Career being one of the topmost in the industry, is really lagging behind till date. So they have come with a positive move and looking to grab the mobile advertising market.
The platform has been named “Oracle Communications Marketing and Advertising” being aimed at using their customer database. The biggest advantage is that, Carrier can use advertisements to proper market segments, taking consideration of age, usage pattern, gender, location of their customer.
About ‘Oracle communications Marketing and Advertising’:
This is a new application that enables network operators execute targeted mobile advertising campaigns.
Here are the product features:
- Pre-built interfaces and pre-defined templates tailored for a variety of users including advertisers, ad agencies and publishers
- Self-service tools that empower advertisers to create campaigns and monitor their effectiveness, while providing network operators secure control over the use of network resources.
- The ability to both “push” bulk messages to a large number of subscribers and to integrate advertising into “pull” messages – responses to subscriber interactions, such as text message voting for a reality TV show
- Support for advertising delivery via short message service (SMS), multimedia messaging service (MMS) and Wireless Application Protocol (WAP) push
Then again, there are many more plans from both ends, lots of hurdle to be crossed before getting success.

In 2008 when the app store was first launched it contains only 552 apps and this November apple app store has announced that it has reached 100,000 mark and this exponential surge will continue in the 2010 too. In 2010 android apps will also increase many times along with notebooks applications. These applications will be going to optimize the performances of these devices.
According to the IDC the application surge of app store is the result of their superior manpower and marketing strategies of the store. This will continue to increase the app store for long. On the other hand android is not going to provide such a lucrative market for the developers as they are frustrated with functionality and complications of the android software. Some developers think that the market place of android is not useful and it is very hard to market and publicize the application. Some android developers are also not satisfied with the return they are getting from the applications.
